⼀家は⼤連に引越し、⽗・徳造「スター写真館」を開業。
The Mifune family moved to Dalian and opened a photo studio.

⼤連⾼校を卒業。
Graduated Dalian High School.

戦争が勃発し、満洲陸軍第七航空隊に⼊隊。
写真の知識と経験により、航空写真部に配属される。
Drafted by the Imperial Army and stationed into the Seventh flying squad.
Due to his background in photography, he was later assigned to the aerial photograph division.

満洲陸軍第⼋航空教育隊に転属。
隊が引き上げると滋賀県 ⼋⽇市に移る。
He was transferred to the Eighth flying squad to educate young pilots.
When his squad retreated, he stepped foot into Japan and was stationed at Yokkaichi (Shiga pref.).

熊本県 隈乃庄の特攻隊基地に配属され終戦を迎える。
Mifune was stationed at the Kamikaze base in Kumanosho (Kumamoto pref.) when the war ended.

カメラマン助⼿の仕事を求め、東宝撮影所を訪ねる。
履歴書が手違いにより東宝第⼀期ニューフェースの募集へと回り、余儀なく俳優の⾯接を受ける。役者として補⽋採⽤される。
Mifune visited Toho studios to apply for a position as a cinematographer.
His resume was misplaced and submitted to the actor’s division who were auditioning fresh actors. Mifune made the cut as an understudy.

撮影部の空きを待っていた三船は、映画「銀嶺の果て」で役者デビューを果たす。
Mifune accepted the actor’s position temporarily until there was an opening in the cinematography unit.
Mifune made his debut in “Snow Trail”.

⿊澤明の「酔いどれ天使」の出演。
Starred in Kurosawa’s “Drunken Angel”.

「羅⽣⾨」ベネチア国際映画祭でグランプリを受賞。
“Rashomon” received the Golden Lion Award at the Venice International Film Festival.

「七⼈の侍」公開される。
“The Seven Samurai” was released.

「宮本武蔵」⽶国アカデミー賞で外国映画賞を受賞。
“The Samurai Trilogy” received the Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language film.

「蜘蛛巣城」と「どん底」公開される。
“Throne of Blood” and “The Lower Depth” were released.

「隠し砦の三悪⼈」公開される。
“The Hidden Fortress” was released.

「無法松の⼀⽣」ベネチア国際映画祭でグランプリ受賞。
“The Rickshaw Man” received the Golden Lion Award at the Venice International Film Festival.

初海外作品メキシコ映画「価値ある男」に主演。
「⽤⼼棒」でベネチア国際映画祭主演男優賞を受賞。
Starred in his first foreign film “Animas Trujano”.
Received the Best Actor Award at the Venice International Film Festival for his performance in “Yojimbo”.

三船プロダクションを設⽴。
「椿三⼗郎」公開される。
Established his own production company Mifune Productions.
“Sanjuro” was released.

三船プロダクション初作「五⼗万⼈の遺産」で初監督。
Made his director debut with “Legacy of the 500,000”.

東宝から独⽴。
⿊澤監督との最後の作品「⾚ひげ」で⼆度⽬のベネチア国際映画祭主演男優賞を受賞。
Became an independent actor.
Received his second Venice International Film Festival Best Actor Award for his performance in “Red Beard”, which was his last film with Kurosawa.

⽯原プロモーションと「⿊部の太陽」を共同制作。
⽇⽶合作映画「太平洋の地獄」に出演。
Produced and starred in "The Sun of Kurobe".
Starred in “Hell in the Pacific” with Lee Marvin.

テレビCM「男は黙ってサッポロビール」に出演。
Appeared in Mifune’s trade mark commercial for Sapporo Beer.

「レッド・サン」に出演。
Starred in “Red Sun”.

Starred in “Midway”.

スピルバーグ監督「１９４１」に出演。
Starred in Steven Spielberg’s “1941”.

紫綬褒章を受賞。
カルフォルニア⼤学LA校より名誉学位メダルを受賞。
Received the Honorary National Purple Ribbon Award.
Received the UCLA Honorary Medal.

「男はつらいよ 知床慕情」に出演。
Appeared in Yoji Yamada’s “It’s Tough Being a Man”.

フランス政府から芸術⽂芸勲章を受賞。
Received the Art and Literature Award from the government of France.

遺作「深い河」が公開される。
Made his last film appearance in “Deep River”
